Wind Energy Overview

One of the strategies to diminish our dependence on fossil fuels and reduce the effects of climate change is to increase the production and distribution of renewable energy sources.

“Pursuing wind power as part of our move towards clean energy makes sense. It is the fastest-growing source of energy in the world.” – David Suzuki, New Scientist Magazine, April 16th 2005

For thousands of years, humans have been harnessing the energy of the wind, be it for drying our clothes, pumping our water, sailing our boats, milling cereals or sawing wood. Wind is an unlimited and sustainable form of energy, and it is pollution free…

WIND ENERGY:

  • Doesn’t require fuel.
  • Doesn’t create greenhouse gasses.
  • Doesn’t produce toxic or radioactive waste.
  • Doesn’t require transportation: no hazards or spills…

…so part of the answer to the world’s current energy situation is literally “blowing in the wind”!
